    HOW LONG

    Planned on paper. Then built.

The scope sets the dates. The number of Functions and Flows moves them.

    01
    Before the build

    Architecture

How orders, prices, stock and staff work today, and which Plus feature takes over each manual step. Written down and agreed.

    02
    Phase one

    Plus setup

Upgrade or fresh configuration: staff roles and checkout branding, on a development store first.

    03
    Phase two

    Functions and Flow

Discount, delivery and payment Functions, checkout extensions and Flow automations, built and tested on a development store.

    04
    Phase three

    Launch

Test orders through every checkout path, then handover with the documentation and the Flow walkthrough.

    IF IT GOES WRONG

    Tested on a copy.

Before anything reaches the live checkout.

    01

    A development store first

Functions and checkout extensions are built and tested away from the live store, with test orders on every path.

    02

Each piece has an off switch

A Function, an extension or a Flow can be turned off on its own in Shopify admin, without a deploy.

    03

    Changes before they are made

Two revision rounds are included. Anything beyond the agreed scope is priced in writing before it is built.

    04

    Code that outlives anyone

Functions and extensions sit in your repository, documented. Any Shopify developer can pick them up.

    05

    Scope in writing

Every Function, Flow and extension is listed before the build. A change is priced before it is made.

    06

    Bugs fixed

Anything in the delivered scope that does not work as agreed is fixed for 60 days after handover.

    WHO IT'S FOR

    Large stores. Not all.

If the second list sounds closer, Plus can wait, and another service will do more for less.

    Plus architecture fits

    • 01
A brand past ₹5 crore a year online

Volume where an hour of manual work before every sale has become a cost.

    • 02
A checkout that needs more than branding

Custom fields, rules for cash on delivery, tiered discounts, upsells inside checkout.

    • 03
      D2C and wholesale together

Consumer prices and trade price lists, company accounts and payment terms on one platform.

    • 04
      A store already on Plus

Paying for Plus and using few of its features. A written plan shows what to switch on first.

    Look elsewhere first

    • 01
A store well below that scale

A standard Shopify plan and a well-built Liquid theme go a long way. See Shopify Theme Development.

    • 02
The need is a gateway or one-click checkout

Those work on every Shopify plan. App & Payment Integrations covers them.

    • 03
The storefront is the limit, not checkout

Configurators and app-like flows are a headless question. See Headless Shopify Development.

    STANDARDS YOU CAN CHECK

    Documented. Tested. Yours.

Each one is checked before launch, and the evidence comes with the repository.

    01

    Nothing on retired features

No new work on Shopify Scripts or checkout.liquid. Logic runs on Functions and Checkout Extensibility.

    02

    Every Function documented

What goes in, the rule, what comes out, and the test cases that prove it.

    03

    Flows with plain names

Each workflow has a name that says what it does, a description and an owner on your team.

    04

    Roles by least access

Staff accounts carry the permissions the job needs. The role list is in the handover.

    05

    Every checkout path ordered

Prepaid, cash on delivery, discounted and gift test orders placed and recorded before launch.

    06

    Code in your repository

Functions and extensions as commits in a GitHub repository in your name.

    BEFORE YOU BRIEF

    What founders ask before upgrading.

As a guide: above ₹5 crore a year in online revenue, or when the store needs something only Plus allows, such as custom fields and logic inside checkout, Launchpad for scheduled sales, or several stores under one organisation. The first call goes through which of these apply. Sometimes none do yet.
The Plus subscription is billed by Shopify and is separate from this work. Whether it pays for itself depends on what it replaces: apps, manual work before every sale, checkout limits that cost orders. Those are mapped on paper before you commit, so the case is visible first.
Yes. The upgrade happens in place: same store, same domain, same products, customers and orders. The work is in what comes after, configuring checkout, Functions, Flow and Launchpad for how the business runs.
Shopify has retired both. Discount, shipping and payment Scripts are rewritten as Shopify Functions, and checkout.liquid changes are rebuilt as checkout UI extensions under Checkout Extensibility. The audit lists each one and what replaces it. Rebuilding old Scripts is not in the starter package and is quoted in writing, once the audit shows how many there are.
On Plus: branding, custom fields such as a gift note or a GST number, upsells, delivery instructions, and content at any step, all through checkout UI extensions. Functions decide which discounts apply and which delivery and payment methods appear, for example hiding cash on delivery above an order value. Payments, taxes and order creation stay Shopify's.
Yes. B2B on Shopify adds company accounts, catalogues with their own price lists, and payment terms. It can run inside the D2C store or on a separate expansion store. B2B is not in the starter package, so it is quoted in writing once we know how different the two catalogues and prices are.
Through Shopify Markets for currency and language on one store, or expansion stores where a country needs its own catalogue, prices or team. Plus includes expansion stores, managed from one organisation admin. Markets setup and expansion stores are outside the starter package and quoted in writing.
Yes. The work starts with a written list of every Plus feature, whether the store uses it, and what manual task it could replace. The starter package can be used for this plan, and the Functions and Flows it finds are built within the same caps.
Shopify Plus work starts at £2,399: a written architecture plan and checkout branding, up to 5 Shopify Functions or checkout extensions, up to 5 Flow automations, 2 rounds of revisions, documented handover and 60 days of bug fixes. B2B, Markets, expansion stores and rebuilding old Scripts are quoted in writing, as is anything beyond those caps. Time depends on the scope; the written scope carries the price and the dates before work starts.
